The first group made up of Sophie, Leo, and Claire talked about the ear. They have learned so much from Ms. McRainey about the ear that they wanted to share about all the parts of the ear and what each one does. Did you know the part of the ear we can see is called the auricle?
Ms. McRainey's class were so excited about Science Friday they had two items to share with us. The first group made up of Sophie, Leo, and Claire talked about the ear. They have learned so much from Ms. McRainey about the ear that they wanted to share about all the parts of the ear and what each one does. Did you know the part of the ear we can see is called the auricle? Kennedy and Karissa shared an earthworm they found at recess on Thursday. Did you know they eat leaves? They like to eat anything that is dead. Worms are great decomposers! They told us that the lines you see on a worm help them move by stretching out and coming back.

Aaron in Ms. Hallan's class sharedt a half of a turtle shell he found. The shell was completely white. Mr. Barnhill was on hand to to share his knowledge about turtle shells. He pointed out that the shell was white because all its scutes were gone. Scutes are a special type of scale that cover a turtle shell. Today, we looked a collection of feathers found in the woods by a 4th grader. He brought them in and we used the field guides in the Science Lab to identify the species as wild turkey. We think this animal died, leaving the feathers together in one area in the woods. Even though the feathers were likely from one bird, there were several different shapes, sizes, and patterns in the feathers.
